The Christian Example

I just wanted to acknowledge my best friend and true brother, Adam; he has always been there for me. Some have heard, but not all, that Sherry Mullin's dad died today. Adam was his nurse, and i was told that while on duty Adam sang to him at his bed side. Adam, i wish i could be more like you brother. That brought tears to my eyes as i thought about the example which you set for the old baptist each day. You are a role model though some may not think so. I love you man, and i always pray that your light will shine on others, as it has shined on me. I am reminded of the verse 1 John 1:6-7--"If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." We ought to act on that verse more often. I love you all, and i pray that we think about the example that we set for others. Also the things that we do out of the kindness of our hearts. 1 Cor. 15:58--"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord." I love you all. I hope you all have had a blessed week.

For now it is all childish.

This evening i was talking to a young lady, and we were discussing the art of dating between the ages of 17-19. As i was talking to this girl, all i was looking for was insite on how girls think. Obviously this is not how Primitive Baptist girls think, at least as far as i know. She was explaining to me that girls look to live in the moment, and date the guy they cant have. They would rather a guy be mean to them, rather than be sweet. She said that it is childish, and thats what girls are enjoying right now. The reason i was interested in this conversation was because, recently some other girl told me that i was the cute, sweet guy who looks too young to be in college. Yet obviously most of the girls here at the university wont go for a guy like me. As the conversation progressed i began to understand that when i find girls who think in a childish way, i dont need to be around them. I dont need to change to get a girl to like me. I also understand that my idea of a future bride is nothing like this girl described. She explained that i am the type of guy that girls would like to settle down with. That made me smile because i dont need to have some girl that wants to have fun for 2 weeks then kick me to the curb. This whole discussion made me so thankful for my two sisters, who have tried to guide me in my decisions on girls. If i had to discribe a type of girl that i am interested in, i would discribe my sisters. I am so thankful for them and for their knowledge. So as you can see my thinking is not childish like 90% of the freshmen here on campus. Thank you for keeping me from the rest of the world and their childish thinking. For right now i guess you can say that i am enjoying kicking back and relaxing. I dont have to be like the rest of the world. I am having fun being an old baptist.

What would our week be like without Sunday?

Sunday has to be the best day of the week. Without Sunday, i know that my week would be horrible. Today, i decided to go to my Uncle's church, Five Mile Primitive Baptist Church, which is about 40 minutes south of Tuscaloosa. It was a nice fast drive considering i was running late. I forgot to set my alarm to a different time. Anyways i get there about 10:50. I was in time to sing a little before the preaching portion of the service. Well it is time for preaching service and my uncle asks me to introduce services, and for the record i was not prepared at all. Considering the fact that we should always be prepared to answer when the Lord calls on us to do something, i quickly thought about the subject of "prayer." I turned to the fourth chapter of the book of James, and i began reading till about the 4th or 5th verse. As i spoke on prayer, i was praying that the Lord just get me through this..............I am used to introducing services back home on occasion, but i did not expect to have to speak away from home. However, my dad told me that he learned the same way. From now on, it doesnt matter where i am at, i will be prepared. It was definitely something that the Lord blessed me to do today. In saying that, he blessed me this morning, and i hope he continues to bless me this week. I pray that he will bless the ones who get the chance to read this. For we know that he is as bright as the morning star, and i pray that he will be our light each and every day. What would our week be like without Sunday?

What do ya know, i finally have a blog.

Well, let me just say that i have been wanting to start a blog for a while, but i have not gotten around to doing it. I am back at school and doing well. I am taking some hard classes, but i know by the grace of God that i will get through it. To my whole church family, i love you, and i hope to have a lot of interesting stories about my exciting times here at the great University of Alabama.
